Age Cutoff Key

Beginning in the Fall of 2017, PONY Baseball fully implemented a new age cutoff date of August 31st, replacing the previous date of April 30th. While PTBA is PONY-affiliated, we have decided against fully implementing this change opting instead to phase it in over time. There are numerous reasons for our decision, including talking to our surrounding communities who are mostly taking a similar stance. We will continue to look at this situation as the years pass, and reserve the right to change our stance in the future. Please see our Age Cutoff Announcement for further information. The following Age Key depicts the cutoff for each league in the PTBA.

So what does this mean in practical terms? Please see the specific list of affected kids below:
  • If you have a 4-year-old who turns 5 before August 31st, they can play Shetland this coming Spring (2018).
  • If you have a 6-year-old who turns 7 before August 31st, they can play Pinto this coming Spring (2018). Note- they are not required to play Pinto if you don't believe they are ready, or you want them to stay in Shetland.
  • If you have a 13-year-old who turns 14 before August 31st, they are eligible to try out for the PONY League World Series team this year, assuming they meet all other requirements (rec participation, etc.) involved. That tryout will be sometime in June.
  • ALL OTHER PLAYERS, LEAGUES AND TRAVEL TEAMS ARE UNAFFECTED BY THIS CHANGE.
